Volumetric Concrete Trucks

Flowable fill by Omega Ready Mix is delivered and placed using volumetric concrete trucks equipped with special blending augers. This allows for accurate measurement and precise mixing of all ingredients on-site

This technology eliminates the traditional challenges of curb work — no more waiting, no wasted concrete, and consistent quality throughout your entire project

Rather than being mixed at the cement factory, materials are loaded into the truck and blended on-site. The mixture and pump discharge rate can be regulated for maximum control — an ideal solution for any flowable fill project

Accurate Measurement

Precise weighing of all ingredients for consistent mix quality

On-Site Blending

Fresh mixing at your location for optimal workability

Frequently Asked Questions

What is flowable fill?
Flowable fill (also called CLSM – Controlled Low Strength Material, or controlled density fill) is a self-leveling, cementitious material used for backfill, void filling, and structural fill applications. It flows into place without mechanical compaction, conforms to irregular shapes without formwork, and provides superior stability with minimal settling over time.

Is flowable fill the same as concrete?
No, flowable fill is different from concrete. Flowable fill is a low-strength cementitious material (typically 0.3-2 MPa or 50-300 PSI) designed to be excavatable if future access is needed. Concrete is structural material with much higher strength (20-40+ MPa or 3,000-6,000+ PSI). Flowable fill is used for fill and backfill applications, not structural purposes.

What is flowable fill used for?
Flowable fill is used for utility trench backfill, pipe bedding and encasement, void filling (abandoned tanks, wells, sewers, mines), bridge abutments, retaining wall backfill, annular space fill around pipes and tunnels, roadway subbase before patching, and any application requiring stable, self-leveling fill material that eliminates the need for mechanical compaction.

Can flowable fill be excavated later?
Yes, when designed with strength below 1 MPa (150 PSI), flowable fill can be excavated using standard equipment such as backhoes and hand tools. This “excavatable” property is essential for utility trenches where future access may be required. We can adjust the mix design to ensure excavatability while still providing adequate strength and stability for your application.

Why is volumetric mixing better for flowable fill?
Volumetric mixing offers several advantages for flowable fill: precise ingredient measurement for consistent quality, fresh on-site mixing for optimal flowability, controlled discharge rate for accurate placement, custom mix adjustments in real-time, and you only pay for what you use. Unlike ready-mix, there’s no risk of material setting up in transit or requiring water addition that affects performance.
